What’s in the free October issue of Kentishtowner?

Our first ever Books Special coincides with the ArchWay With Words festival. Plus the usual food, interviews and arts features

issue-39-kt-coverAre you a Kindle person, or do you prefer the deep smell of a new (or even better, old) book? We’re more in the latter camp, but whatever your preference, it’s still an industry that needs everyone’s support.

Hence our books special this month, spearheaded by the ArchWay With Words festival, about to start its fourth annual run across venues in and around N19. It’s ten days – and 40 events – of fiction, science, history, memoir, spoken word, poetry, performance, comedy and film.

Inside the issue we hear from playwright Jonathan Harvey, authors Jake Arnott and Louise Doughty, poet Salena Godden and legendary musician Suzi Quatro about what they’re doing at the multi-venue event.

We also meet mega-selling debut author Laura Barnett, local icon Gillian Tindall, and discover the story behind the neighbourhood’s favourite bookshop, Owl.

Not a bookworm? There are the usual food reviews, a run-down of what to this month, and we meet the couple behind Power Dressing, a new 80s and 90s vintage store in Camden Market.
