Starting this weekend (14th May), the hit Fortess Road cave a manger is dishing up brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am until 3pm. Expect upmarket plates such as eggs benedict with streaky bacon, smoked mackerel and crème fraiche omelettes, smashed avocado tartines, French toast with mixed berries, and fresh baguettes with jam (or Nutella). Booze-hounds can wash it all down with mimosas, cucumber spritzes, or just a classic spicy bloody mary (while the virtuous may, of course, plump for coffee or a freshly pressed juice). And it’s 25% off your entire bill this weekend only. More info here. 26 Fortess Road NW5

BRUNCH: Bull & Gate

Meanwhile, just over the road, another popular NW5 haunt also launches its spanking new brunch menu too this Saturday morning. The Bull & Gate is pulling out all the stops with classic seasonal breakfast faves plus some more innovative signature dishes such as a Middle-Eastern inspired smoked tomato and baked eggs with ‘nduja (spicy, spreadable pork sausage) and labneh. All accompanied by a cocktail list that will put hairs on your chest. More info. 389 Kentish Town Road NW5

DINNER: Sniff out a fishy pop-up

Now, how about dinner? The memorably-named Squid Kitchen prepares Spanish streetfood typical of those tiny crammed bars in Madrid. With popular recent residencies in Tottenham’s Craving Coffee (see review on Seventh Sister) and The Duke in Highgate behind them, now they land at NW5’s very own streetfood specialists Rose & Crown every Tuesday (6-10pm), Thurs, Fri (5-10pm), and Sat and Sun (1-10pm) for the rest of May, June and July. 71-73 Torriano Avenue NW5
