Top 7: New Year’s Eve 2013

From a "cave rave" to a 90s "house party" and a good ol' knees-up with Chas (but not Dave) here are some options for the last night of the year

Cave Rave at the Abbey

Cave RaveDown at K-Town’s cheekiest boozer they’re hosting The Land Before Time Party – the “ultimate Cave Rave” with DJ Joei Supernova. Set to be the “best party since the Cretaceous period”, go kitted out as cave-men, cave-girls, neanderthals, sabretooths and (woolly) mammoths. Ahem. Our favourite pub street kitchen, Phileas Hog, will be roasting a a pig “the size of a Brachiosaurus” And there’s an art installation brought to you by The Abbey with T-Rexs, Trikes, Stegosauruses & more. Prizes for the best outfits too. Free entry.

All-dayer at The Egg

If you like your NYE celebrations to stretch well into NYD, there can’t be many places that do an all-dayer as well as Egg, the vast nightclub on York Way. Welcoming in 2014 is a typically strong DJ line-up at the launch of brand new night, The One, including Miguel Campbell, Tania Vulcano, Cassy, Pirupa and Waff. It kicks off at 8pm and runs until 3pm on Jan 1st. That should just about satisfy those in for the long haul. From £25

Following a 10pm performance of Fuerzabruta, they’ll be getting the party started down the Chalk Farm Road within the performance area main space. An incredible soundtrack is “guaranteed”, with the legendary NYC Downlow DJs on the decks – famous for their incredible parties in Glastonbury’s Block9 field. £75

90s House Party at the Grafton

nyehousepartybackHow many boxes can you tick on their list of 90s “phenomena” (right)? Our answer is quite alot. Yikes. We have to say we remember it first time round in a pretty big way. But then we’re old. And even if you don’t know who the hell the Fresh Prince was, head to the PoW boozer for nineties r’n’b, hiphop, Britpop and dance. Ouch. Full 90s dress will get you “free stuff”, they promise, and there’s even a Crystal Maze Challenge. Get ready to rumble till 2am. Free entry

Cheese at the Forum

No, not a night of 70s-style fondue but a battle of two wildly popular club nights that have roamed the country for the last few years: Ultimate Power vs Guilty Pleasures. Feel the phenomenon has passed you by? Here’s what we wrote on the former earlier this year. Sounds like a deffo pulling shop for the singletons out there too. All together now: “I would do anything for love…” £33.75
