1. Bank holiday shenanigans start here
You could probably do worse than kickstart the bank holiday with a few beers and a croak at slightly unloveable Mornington Crescent venue the Purple Turtle. Why? It’s the Camden Singalong Ball, of course.
And it’s for a good cause too, as new ‘rock ‘n’ roll’ new mayor Jonathan Simpson, who we interviewed last week, is throwing the fundraiser for his chosen charity, the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
Amy’s dad Mitch should be making an appearance too, as well as a few surprise guests from Camden’s thrusting musical nether regions. Tempted? More info here.
Elsewhere on a hedonistic NW5 bank holiday tip, Monkey Business take over The Oxford tonight (Thursday), The Grafton have Dirty Water Records Djing tomorrow (Friday) as well as Original Jerky spinning a platter or two on Sunday; while the Abbey Tav boasts a beach party (brrrrrr!) on Saturday, with a blues “extravaganza” on Sunday – till Christ knows what time. Parteeee.
Next: beer and art on the PoW

Everyone should go to the Friday I’m in Love Amy Ball. I used to be the MC for FiiL for the first few gigs. The band are really brilliant and I can guarantee you’ll have a LOT of fun.
There is a band on at the bandstand on Hampstead Heath on Sunday and Monday at 3pm:
