We’re delighted that the response to our first ever monthly newspaper has been so positive. So many tweets, all weekend, and tons of emails too. Not least about the front cover (above), whose striking images were shot by local photographer Jason Wilde.
And as it constantly surprises us how many creative types run around the manor, how about a little competition to showcase the best local talent on the cover of the next issue?
What we’d like you to do is to create an artwork or photograph that references the area but which in some way, however small or big, uses physical pieces of our actual first print edition. So it could be a collage piecing together fonts and images in a fresh way, or a papier mache design; or simply whatever you think (we’re sure you’re more imaginative than we are). And the best will feature on the March front cover. It’s nothing less than recycling at its most efficient.
And of course for anyone who fancies themselves a bit of an artist or photographer, it could be a nice way to get exposure amongst our 20,000+ readers (and you never know who may pick a copy up.)
If you still haven’t grabbed one, or need a couple more to create for the work, try the Southampton Arms, Fields Beneath, Grafton, Oxford and Abbey, which all had a few last time we passed; but it’s also stocked in a total of 40 outlets.
Our deadline is – dear God! – Friday February 15. Which gives you precisely 10 days if you fancy your choices. Email us for more info or with your entry at info@kentishtowner.co.uk
Good luck.
